Pauline Thompson My Photo Diary

The wildlife of Svalbard is specialised for the extreme environment in which it lives.

Temperatures in the summer average around 6 degrees Celsius, while in the winter the temperature can go down to an average of -16 degrees Celsius. All of these temperatures can, however, be affected by windchill which can make them seem much colder. So dressing to stay warm in July looks something like my picture to the left of the map.
